STANDARD ORDERING PWG prefer to receive official orders by post, fax, phone or email. Verbal orders involving text, graphics or layout leave room for errors. Some of our associate web sites have ordering facilities on line which you may use but we prefer the above methods.
CUSTOM SIGNS ORDERING We prefer to work with files sent by email or on a cd. The best formats for us are .eps and .cdr. There are many formats available to use but many of them do not convert exactly. For example a dwg or dxf saved from one software package may have things missing or added when we import the file into our own package. Variations exist even between versions. Files sent in .doc , xls, .ppt and other formats can usually be read but are not ideal since they may need conversion. We may not have the fonts that you are using on your computer.
If you need to send Graphics there are two basic formats, vector and bitmap. Vector images are drawn using lines point to point to create the image and a colour fill can be inserted between these lines. Vector images scale up without loss of definition. Bitmap images are created from tiny dots and scaling up just makes bigger dots. Definition is lost when scaling up (see below)
For customers that do not have a computer drawing program, basic signs hand drawn are quite satisfactory for many items. We have found the “free” program listed below to allow good results. The image we produce can never be better than the image you send. Therefore please view the file at full size before sending it if possible.
With so many methods of producing signs you may need advice and this is freely available at PWG. We will normally send proofs in pdf format for customer approval. You can be assured of a fast friendly service when dealing with PWG. We hope that we can truly take the “sigh” out of signs !.
